About Wheels to Reels

“Unlike all the other art forms, film is able to seize and render the passage of time, to stop it, almost to possess it in infinity. I’d say that film is the sculpting of time.”

– Andrei Tarkovsky

Wheels to Reels is a film screening series that happens during HRM Bike Week. The event kicks off with a premiere screening and a panel discussion at the Carbon Arc Cinema now located at the Museum of Natural History. Other events include a Bike In at the Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative on Cornwallis St. This is an outdoor screening like a drive in but with bikes. There will be a screening of bike themed films including local filmmakers. Other events include outdoor screenings at the Old Red Barn (now burnt down) at the trail head to the Salt Marsh Trail. There will be another screening at Fisherman's Cove in Eastern Passage. All these events are free to the public and include free popcorn and other giveaways generously provided by local business. Wheels to Reels is a way to celebrate film and cycling by creating an environment to engage the audience and encourage them to continue a healthy lifestyle by cycling in HRM.
